You never know where you may end up or what you may want to do in 4 years. i am also deciding between vcu where i don’t really like as much how it’s so urban, its campus life, the issues that come with living in a city, etc.

A lot of people are willing to take out loans right now for the college experience, but they don't know what it's like to have to pay down loans.A lot of people who love the city are gonna reply and tell you you'll love it too, but I relate to you in that I prefer Tech's atmosphere but I ended up going to VCU. If it's still medicine 4 yrs from now and you still feel like you want to experience a "traditional" campus then VT med school could be the perfect compromise! You were born/raised there so you have that connection as well. I'm not sure where you got your info about student wellness here, but VCU actually puts a lot of effort into student wellness.
