Sarasota, FL (June 24, 2020) – One person was killed in a fatal collision that took place on a highway in Sarasota this afternoon. Jose Leal, 52, of Cape Coral and 50-year-old Joseph Lydic of Sarasota were killed along with Joseph Pontillo, 24, of Sarasota, in a seven-car accident near mile-marker 210. The collision took place on University Parkway (I-75) in the southbound lanes when at least two vehicles collided with one another. A woman from Manatee County has been reported missing. Deputies say the incident happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at 27th Street East and 30th Avenue East.
