Admittedly I was introduced to it a part of Golden Books videos, and the illustrations also came from other books of hers, but even so, Scuppers will always hold a place in my heart. The 2001 edition lacks four pages of color illustrations and text found in the original 1953 edition. The prose is weird… stilted and rambling… there are plot holes, the narrative is almost incoherent… and the song is kind of terrible.
