Sounds like a really ill-advised present for a newborn. When you start reading it.....clear the rest of your day! As other commenters have already mentioned, lullabies and nursery rhymes are often full of non-sense (or violence! There was a barb about the difference between Democrats and Republicans, making fun of a Native American in traditional dress, calling a Native American a "red" - little things that were just smattered in and not really to enhance a character (which would have made a huge difference and would have been understood as character development and I could definitely fly with that) - all it really did was make me wonder about the political affiliation of the author and take me out of the story.
I liked this book, but didn’t love it. I will look forward to reading books by Suzanne Redfearn in the future.A very well written fictional book about domestic violence. She has a successful career, an adoring husband and two beautiful children. You have already tried the “cart + hoofed animal” combo.
