Georgina, her brother and her mother are living in their car after her father leaves. Who's family is struggling. I can see myself using this in my own classroom for sure.

Ever since her father left and they were evicted from their apartment, her family has been living in their car.
This book is one I would use to show students that it is not okay to steal things and that regardless of your life situations there is always a positive if you look hard enough. It was written in 2007 and also has a 2014 film adaption. Georgina and Toby become very close to Carmella but don't tell her that they stole her dog. Georgina is thrilled to no longer have to live in a car, and they move in. Georgina is afraid that she will eventually tell her classmates in school about it and Georgina will be then made fun of. This book to me taught me how that doing things for a reward is not as helpful than helping out of the good of your heart. She hid theI think this book was good because I like dogs, and this book was very adventure -like and suprising. This book does a really nice job showing how the mom tries everything to make her kids happy.Since she is very busy with two jobs, that leaves the older sister to look after her younger brother while their mom is at work. When the mom finally makes enough money to buy a house they get this really haunted looking house because that is all they can afford. There’s nothing like picking up a debut novel and feeling like you’ve found your new favorite author. Georgina wants to help and comes up with the idea of stealing a dog in order to get a reward for returning it. It is a real eye opener; reminding me not to take things for granted. Georgina is afraid that she will eventually tell her classmates in school about it and Georgina will be then made fun of. In the end Georgina tells Carmella that she stole her dog. Once they start to get settled in dog starts to run down the street and Georgina steels it. Additionally, the mailbox on the house had the same name of Whitmore that was on the street sign. She hatches a plan to steal a beloved pet from a house where the mailbox name matches the name of the whole street - evidently a family of means.
